This course takes you on a journey from essential number concepts to advanced strategies, helping you build a solid foundation for success!

What will you achieve by the end of this course?
🔹 ALL students should be able to:
Recognise and explain the connection between addition and subtraction in simple problems.
Recall addition and subtraction facts for single-digit numbers to develop mental fluency.
Recall multiplication facts for 2s, 3s, 5s, and 10s and understand their division counterparts.
Identify simple number sequences involving multiples of 3, 4, 6, and 8.
Use basic mental and written strategies to solve multiplication and division problems (with no remainder).
🔸 MOST students will have the strategies to:
Apply place value to partition, rearrange, and regroup numbers up to 10,000 to assist in calculations.
Extend place value knowledge to solve multi-step problems involving numbers up to tens of thousands.
Choose the most efficient strategy (mental, written, or digital) to solve problems.
Apply number properties (such as commutativity and distributivity) to simplify calculations.
Recognise and extend complex number sequences, including multiples of all numbers up to 10.
⭐ SOME students will gain the super skills to:
Apply efficient mental and written strategies to solve problems involving all four operations with whole numbers.
Use a variety of strategies flexibly and adaptively to solve unfamiliar problems.
Independently choose and justify the most effective problem-solving approach for a given situation.
